EPC & Exhaust Emissions Warning Lights

    Hi folks,

    Both of these lights came up while driving my 2003 VW Golf 1.6. Need to make a big journey on the weekend. I will send it into a garage tomorrow, but does anyone know what this problem is?

    Google search is showing a few different results

    Sounds like a lambda sensor

    Thanks for the response.

    If it is the lambda will the car generally be drivable?

    Ive come across a few different possible sources of trouble
    • Faulty brake light (although how would that cause an emissions warning too??)
    • Engine slighlty flooded, temporary problem and the light shouldnt be seen again
    • Electrical fault

    I should mention that the lights have now gone for the moment. They were on for about 15/20 minutes. No instructions came up on the display screen either, just the warning lamps in the clocks.
