For EMT or Paramedic training? I'll assume EMT... a lot of courses use Brady's or Mosby's Emergency Care, the Paramedic core text is generally Nancy Caroline's Emergency Care in the Streets. Any of these books is worth a look, although you are generally supplied with them as part of course fee.

the book we used and i still think the current book used for the emt course is the aaos emergency care and transportation of the sick and injured.
    its the orange coloured one.

i wouldnt read the nancy carol book u ntil after your course, it has alot of nice to knows's but not need to knows, they use that to teach paramedics here i do believe.

    Hi

Can you recommend an EMT training course. I'm interested in doing one for personal fulfillment, and it would be good for my current work in social/health care.

    cheers

There are a few places where they do emt courses. iam currently doing mine with medicall and only have my practical exams to pass. there is also 3 others dublin fire brigade external courses and sonach in dun lao and also irish ambulance training institute in out near walkinston. its a touch course to pass espicially the 100 multiple choice questions (mcqs) most people find the pracitcal scenarios known as osces easy to pass most people seem to fail on the questions. i found if u read the questions a number of times then read it with the 4 answers and which ever one seem more correct or makes more sense to go with that one. and stuck with it as some people have changed a few answers ariund and ended up failing as you need to get over 80% to pass the mcqs and if u dont pass first time you have to go and do it again when the enxt available place becomes available prices vary between the 3 of them but there all in around the 2,300 to 2,500 mark
I must say it a great course and the ambulance and a days hospital placemets are a great way to learn whet an emt actually does day to day. As i am in one of the voluntary organisations i find it a good help with the many duties i carry out week to week. hope this is good enough help for you
