My car got a rotten smell in it lately. smells real musky, but I cant find the actual source. It seems to just be off the upholstery.

I've tried frebreeze and shake n vac all over the car. And have let the air at it by leaving all the doors open for ages and the best I get is he smell goes away for a while but will still come back.

Just wondering is there any products or anything else I could use to get rid of it for good. Would a proper valet get rid of it?

You most likely have a leak somewhere and its got stale. Until you rectify whatevers causing the smell there's no point glossing it over with perfumes.

as above, until you hit the source of it it won't stop reoccuring.

if the car has a pollen filter, this is one of the first things to check cause I've seen them turn to sodden stinking messes a few times. There's no end to things that could be causing it - leaks, a spill, a dead tiny animal in the spare wheel well (OK, that might just have happened to my first car!), etc.

My girlfriend complained of this recently.

With a few simple adjustments to my diet it was cleared up quickly

If a smell isn't going away its probably dampness.
Found a pool of water in the spare tyre well in my girlfriend's car. Random rubbish from the boot rotted in the water causing an awful stink.

If it's the carpets and upholstery that's the source of the niff, rent one of those rugdoctor things from homebase. Did a smashing job on my beige interior and as you have it for the day, have some friends call round.
I did four cars and all the carpets in the house, cost = €30 plus the cleaning products. I used the autoglym spray first and then the regular rugdoctor stuff.
