Hi guys, i really need some help with this! I bought a new modem for my sis for xmas from three, the E122. This was to replace an E172 which she was using on linux linpus, used it through mobile partner.

Anyhow, this evening i went to make sure it was working but i haven't been able to get it to work at all, just wondering if anybody could shed some light on this issue?! Its not even showing up on mobile connect. I have put in all the correct settings . I have tried it in my own windows 7 laptop and it works fine, although i see that they don't use mobile partner anymore?
    any way around this?
    can't afford a new pressie!!

    thanks guys in advance!

If I was anyone's sister, I'd prefer even a box of After Eight to different but the same 3G modem.

Perhaps you need some magical Linux script to make it go. You did check that E122 is supported by linpus?

Is there something wrong with the current modem that it needs to be replaced? If the current one works, then a new modem is a waste of time and money. If it does need to be replaced, then you need to check the compatibility list for the OS to see if it's supported. If it isn't, then there's nothing you can do.

The dog thought the E172 was very tasty unfortunately so we've been sharing my usb dongle but for the past 2 months i've been almost hitting the cap , can't afford to go over.
I actually forgot to double check but I got talking to somebody and completely forgot, just assumed they were still using the mobile partner to connect with.
Think i'll just install ubuntu onto the acer tomorrow, anything would be better than linpus!! thanks for the info guys!

Yes, the April LTS 10.4 works good on a 256M RAM PIII 450MHz laptop.

    (Long Term support)
