A question about getting STI tests done

My boyfriend and I were having sex the other night, and the condom broke, and it was too late by the time we realised. I'm on the pill, so I'm not too worried about getting pregnant, but we've decided to both get a full set of STI tests done just in case. We're both 99% certain we're clean, but it couldn't hurt to get checked.

My question is - should we go ahead and get tested straight away (as in tomorrow), or should we leave it a few weeks? The reason I'm wondering is, is it possible that one of us could have caught something off the other, but it wouldn't show up for a few weeks or something? Do these things take time to develop in your system or do they show up in tests straight away? If we're doing it, we might as well do it properly and not leave any room for doubts!

    Thanks.

Better off going sooner rather than later if you are at all worried. If one of ye come back with a positive, the other can always get rechecked in a few weeks if its the type that takes time to show. Best not to be sitting around wondering.
