Ok, there's been a lot of chat about genres recently, like the genre/class thing, so I thought it'd be good to clear up all the murky genre definitions definitively. Basically, no debate (although if someone's definition is wrong, correct them), you just choose a few genres you know inside out, link to a few tracks which are fairly definitive, and pick out the staple characteristics. Maybe at the end someone can put it all into one post and it can be stickied or something.

I'll start with a few easy ones, because I'm awful at genres.

    UK Funky/Future Garage
    James Blake - CMYK
    Burial - Untrue

Developed from dubstep, taking influence from 90s garage. Generally about 135-140, sparse, broken beats, lots of sample manipulation, often sampling vocals from r 'n' b and pop and manipulating them to use as vocals. Often not cleanly/clinically produced, with backround noise or vinyl crackle etc.

    (:pac:)Ghetto House/Booty House/Ghettotech/Juke
DJ Funk - Bounce Dat Azz
DJ Rashad - Juke It From Behind

Generally 135-160, ghetto house, also called booty house and ghettotech is, lo-fi, 4 to the floor house, using repeated vocal snippets, and often crude lyrics. (First example is ghettohouse) Juke, or chicago juke, is a new offshoot, using broken beats, sounds like a cross between UK Funky and ghetto house. (second example is juke)

    Breakcore
    Venetian Snares - Öngyilkos Vasárnap

Called "gabber kicks and Amen breaks", heavily influenced by drum and bass, breakcore is usually very high tempo, with very intricate non-repetitive drum programming, manipulation of samples, often using orchestral samples, and chaotic rhythms, and lots of sudden changes.
