What would ye learned lot think of this

It's been a painstaking 45 minutes or so of research that has led me to this point. I think it would be a good buy, given my particular situation.

It's priced at €999.99 in a high profile electronics store, "computer planet", iirc :D (in fairness, they've been pretty cool)

    Could you suggest an alternative?

    A few parameters:
    1) no bigger than 14" display - big laptops are just wrong
    2) as good a battery as possible - i would fore-go processing power for a better battery if the decision came down to it
    3) i'm thinking i'll never buy a HP again
    4) it must be in and around the same price and be available in same chain of retail outlets as mentioned above

    Any help appreciated

    Questions

What are you planning to use it for?
Any particular programs you need to run and at what level? eg Photoshop etc
How portable does it need be?
Online buying an option or is it in store only?
    Any particular spec requirements?
    etc

For battery and portability the Asus UL series are the king particularly the builds with the core2duo ULV cpus like the SU9000 series.

What are you planning to use it for? Work, rest and play
Any particular programs you need to run and at what level? eg Photoshop etc Nothing overly heavy duty as such, some low level SW dev, nothing else comes to mind that would be a hog on resources
How portable does it need be? On the move a lot, realistically 13.3" is the biggest i'd go
Online buying an option or is it in store only? I'm limited here to in store only and it has to be that particular chain - i've what amonts to a credit note to be used there
Any particular spec requirements? As good a processor and ram as will fall into the budget, would like the HDD at 7200 rpm but i know it's rare in a such a mobile machine
    etc

    I hope that makes sense

I guess we are of little help her so unless you have a link/list of whats available in that store.

TBF the Toshiba is a good model, although imo the price is a bit off without any form of dedicated gpu. Then again if you are not gaming that wont concern you, and i guess you are pretty limited in your ability to shop around for price!
