Just for the crack and out of interest would any member have any of the following that they would not mind posting. A old recite or invoice from 1999/2000/ or 2001 of.....

    Grocery/shopping bill
    Esb bill
    Gas bill
    Heating oil bill
dole recite or pay slip (no names)

Keeping in mind that on the 1st of April 2000 the miminmum wage was introduce in ireland. The rate been £4.40 p/h (= €5.59)

On the 14/10/2000 A litre of unleaded petrol was £76.2 (= €96.68) diesel 74.2 (= € 94.21 ) Athough the irish times article doe's mention a 19% increase in fuel prices since the start of that year.

I think your fuel costs are a bit off there

The price of a lot of products has fallen the past couple of years, eg electrical goods, washing powder, shower gel, bread, using the internet.

As far as I remember based on something I read a few months back, the dole was somewhere around IR£90 in 2001

That works out at approx 115 euros I believe

This sums up the celtic tiger for me... I bought some chairs for a business I had in early 2000. The chairs were 100 punts each on offer, and 125 punts at full price. In early 2005 I saw those same chairs still in Arnotts for €399. That's some serious mark-up.

The Consumer Price Index. The Central Statistics Office keeps track of it.
