Got a new water boiler installed in kitchen and have some concerns

Some of the electrical cables are touching or are 2mm from from a copper pipe, carrying v hot water. The copper pipe is v hot.

    How dangerous is this ?

Could the sheath around the wires , disintegrate, causing a short or the copper pipe, boiler etc to become live

If an electrical cable becomes hot, does this affect it's ability to carry current

The installer is due out tomo, so would like to be "pre-armed" with the consequences of this, so any info/opinhons you electrical people you would be great

PS the grey plastic flexible pipe is also touching the hot copper pipe, is this a problem

Of course cable can melt and deteriorate. Depends on the spec of the cable (the ability of the cable to withstand heat) generally this is stamped on the side of the cable.

The obvious is to insure that the pipe is earthed correctly. This is a must for copper piping anywhere.

the heat generated from such a pipe should bear no impact directly on the operational effect of the current through the cable so i would worry about that.

The temp of the water pipe is max 70 degrees, cable should be ok.
but you can get heat resistant cables, maybe installer has fitted this type, ask him

Why not put something around either the pipe or cable so they can't come in contact. You could just pop some insulation on the pipe...
