it was made by eddie, the guy that owns tz-uk, he owns a number of watch brands, precista, sewills, smiths and a few others, he mostly designs watches that hark back to an older military style and he has them assembled in germany normally.

he only had a certain number of cases made by fricker for the dreadnaught or PRS2, thats why he never made any more, i believe he doesnt work with fricker any more, of all his watches it is one that is pretty original in design as opposed to a hommage to something else and it gained great popularity.

the laws of supply and demand pushed the prices up very high, i think they have dropped a little from their peak, a few other companies have copied it by the way with fricker made cases.

not my cuppa, but all his watches are very well made and quality belies the price (the original asking price at any rate)

    thanks cyrus

that was a fantastic reply. it answered everything i needed to know about it.

but it leads me to another question! whats the deal with fricker cases? are they more expensive than other cases? is fricker the name of the company or does it refer to the style of the case? why the clamour for fricker cases?

    i hope i helped

there are people far more knowledgable that me on this to be fair :)

fricker are a german manufacturer, i believe that their work is very good quality but i dont think eddie uses them any more, altho im not 100% sure why

he does make some very good quality watches if you arent a brand whore

ive had a few, but unfortunately im still a little too concerned with what name is on the dial

Yes Fricker are a German case manufacturer, and are quite expensive as far as manufacturers go. The Dreadnought was made there, and it seems that Fricker sold off the design to other watch companies. I don't know if this was the reason why Eddie didn't make any more. He did say he was only going to make I think 200 and not more, and he has stuck to that despite a large demand for more.

Fricker machines it's cases in Germany but gets the blanks from China, even Eddie has admitted this.

The cases themselves are OK, but for some reason they got very desirable on the forums, I think it was just great marketing.
