Just wondering if anybody can tell me what the pounds to euro mark-up is like in Lush? I've been looking at some of the gift sets on their site and they go from £5 which seems very reasonable, any idea what they start at here?

Cheapest one here is about €12. They are total rip-off merchants.

    Wow. That's pretty unbelievable...

Yeah, there's a huge mark up. I always order online. The ship to ireland for about £5 I think.

I've bought online from Lush too 'cause I found it way cheaper. Very much doubt you'd get a gift set here for a fiver considering even a bar of soap would cost you more than that.

I always buy stuff online as well. One moisturiser I used to get is approximately €27 in the shop and £15.25 online. Almost a tenner less. Likewise for my conditioner, €17 in store vs £7.60 online. Well worth it, especially as I buy a lot of stuff from them.

I used to order online but nearly all of the packages were damaged and some of the contents were pretty broken up too so I stopped.

Lush may seem expensive but actually it's not, as the solid cosmetics sold contain no water and therefore the active ingredients are concentrated unlike a lot of mosturisers that are usually min 58% water
I have some experience working in a cosmetic company (not naming) but it got me to realise how much water is added to face creams etc to bulk it up for cheapy ones. (i'm no expert at all I just hate being ripped off!)
I got an example of a lush body moisturiser (solid) from their site, the ingredients must be listed in order to decreasing weight and cocoa butter is listed first and no mention of water.
King of Skin Body Butter- Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii), Fresh Organic Bananas (Musa paradisiaca), Oat Milk (Avena sativa), Fresh Organic Avocado (Persea gratissima), Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera), Perfume, Organic Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis), Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis), Tangerine Oil (Citrus reticulata), Lavender Oil (Lavandula angustifolia), Sandalwood Oil (Santalum austro-caledonicum vieill and Fusanus spicatus), Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena), Frankincense Resinoid (Boswellia carterii), *Limonene, *Linalool
    £4.45/75g

Their liquid creams often have water down as their main ingredient however and are considerably more expensive by weight and therefore not great value.
Skin Drink Moisturiser-Water (Aqua), Fair Trade Organic Sesame Oil (Sesamum indicum), Fresh Rose Petal Infusion (Rosa damascena), Fresh Organic Avocado (Persea gratissima), Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis), Propylene Glycol, Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Aloe Vera Extract (Aloe barbadensis), Organic Aloe Vera Gel (Aloe barbadensis), Evening Primrose Oil (Oenothera biennis), Neroli Oil (Citrus aurantium amara), Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena), Triethanolamine, *Geraniol, *Farnesol, *Limonene, *Linalool, Perfume, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

    £10.25/45g

I also read this great book 'the orginal beauty bible' by Paula Bergoun which explains that the function of each ingredient in cosmetics is there, she reviews products it helped be get a better idea of skin, her others books are on my christmas wishlist.
It is really helpful to understand why a moisturiser is so cheap/expensive and it is based on good quality ingredients or a brand name.

The problem isn't the quality of the products its the huge mark up between UK and Irish prices.

Was actually pleasantly surprised when I went into Lush today! They have a good selection of small gift sets for under a tenner, you only get 2 products but as token gifts they're perfect, and nicely wrapped for you!

The cheapest was €6.50 (£5 sterling on the website) and the one I bought was €8.50 (£6.50 on the website). Quite reasonable imo. They must have reviewed their prices, worth another look perhaps?

Cool! :) I'll have to pick up a few - have some friends who love Lush so would be a nice lil stocking filler!

I picked up some of their Secret Santa giftsets a few weeks ago. They have two full sized products, a Satsumo Santa bath bomb and a Snowflake soap. It was only around €7 which seemed pretty decent to me, considering it's already wrapped and everthing.

Well with delivery and conversion costs your basically paying the same and you can get it instantly.

Actually with what I buy it's not even close. It saves me over a tenner just to buy the conditioner and moisturiser I mentioned even with the cost shipping, and having it instantly doesn't matter to me in the slightest. It may not be worth it for a single item but for some products the difference is big enough that it's definitely worth comparing prices on the website.

Not sure if this has always been the way but I was in Lush yesterday and anything that was made before October was half price.

The prices are almost as annoying as the staff.
They do not comprehend the theory of 'just looking'. I was buying some Christmas presents in there on henry street and they would not leave me alone! I felt the words 'feck off' wouldn't go amiss.

I bought one gift set that would of cost £12 but it was €20.
    Meh.

Do they do grab-bags here after xmas? They always have them at this time of year in the UK. The bags are £5, £10 and £15 and are like a big lucky bag full of Lush stuff. A lot of it is in Xmas shapes that they can't sell as easily now.
