Looking for Database recommendations

I'm looking for a recommendation for a database. I've used Kompass in the past but looking to see what other choices are out there. Not looking for anything too complicated and has to be be cost effective, just want to be able to look for company buyer details etc if and when necessary and maybe buy contacts for occasional campaigns. Would rather where you pay for info as you use it rather than purchasing an entire database. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Kompass is probably the cheapest one available.

http://www.vision-net.ie/ - can't comment on how good.

Experian have one that gives you a lot more demographics, but not sure of it's cost - I imagine it's quite expensive.

Depends how complex it is, and how competent you are with a computer.. Have you thought about trying a database package like Access..? Is attempting it yourself completely off the table?

Try this guy here. Met him at a business event. Seemed very competent, but haven't tried his service yet.
