    Hey guys

Our company is going to be advertising on TV for the first time soon. However, we can't afford to pay a production company. The TV channel did a sample but it wasn't great. I imagine it would just be as easy to learn to use software myself rather than going back and forth asking someone else to make changes.

Can anyone recommend good software for creating an Ad for TV? Or MS powerpoint just as good as anything? Or can you do this on Windows media player or something like that?

It doesn't need to be anything particularly complicated, in fact I'd prefer if it was as straightforward as possible. Just so long as it looks professional

PS I wanted to post this on Marketing forum, but apparently it's discontinued

    thanks
    John

i agree - production companies can be way too expensive for ads. I'm a fan of the freelancer route to minimize costs - an editor called David Blake did some great work for me some time ago and not expensive

depends what kind of thing you want

I have worked in post / production for a good while. havent for a little now. but its relatively easy to produce something graphical etc

it kind of depends on ideas and what kind of thing you would like as to what it might cost

I really would bring someone in on this. There is a lot of small, finicky technical things you need to know in order to make an ad that is suitable for broadcast. But remember, TV is all about movement and personality and it can be hard to do these on the cheap. There comes a price level under which it might not be worth advertising on TV. That said, there are clever things that can be done.

    i agree

there are standards about text sizes etc, different broadcasters have dirrent specs etc

you can create nice movement etc without having to shoot video, by using stills etc. but there is a bit of work involved and planning more than anything to give something effective
