    Hi there,
would anybody have a recommendation as to what to do with skin that has become tight, scratchy and a bit blotchy in the last few weeks. Its a weather and central heating problem I think rather than an allergy..

    Thanks, its really annoying me!

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream is amazing for dry skin, it saves my skin and lips every winter. I've seen some deals on it at a few McCabes pharmacies if there's one near you.

I second 8 hour cream, I rarely use it, but when my skin is in bits and flaking everywhere, it sorts it right out. You'll want to wear it over night...
I've been using Nivea cream a bit too on my cheeks at night time

Thanks for that. Do you just put it on like a mask?

No, not really, it is really sticky so you avoid hair line and eyebrows, but it will absorb into your skin over night. It kinda of sits on your skin and then slowly absorbs over the 8 hours.

There are loads of uses for it, it's a really handy product to have, try get a sample if you can to see if it's worth it, they should have one at a counter

It's not for everyone and you can react to it so def try get a sample......

Also, make sure at home (and if possible at work) to leave cups/bowls of water sitting on the radiators. As they heat up, the water will evaporate and it'll keep some moisture in the air. It's amazing how quickly all this water disappears!

I have 8 hour cream and yeah, it's good, but if you don't feel like splashing out Botanics Face Super Balm does the same job and is waaaay cheaper. You can get it in Boots. I usually put it on before bed and it sorts out really dry skin. :)

    Thanks everyone.
I went to get shellac on my nails today (pretty amazing btw) and while i was in the beauticians I got some yonka stuff. It smells devine!

I have 8 hour cream here so I'm going to put that on tonight and hopefully will wake up normal again. The thought of hair getting caught in sticky 8 hour stuff while i'm asleep is making me gag  needs must however

Clarins do a brilliant moisturising face mask - you can use it on its own and you can mix it in with your normal moisturiser and use it a few nights a week to prevent your skin getting dehydrated.

When my skin gets very bad, I use Bio-Oil at night. It's main purpose is for scarring/stretch marks but it's also good for very dehydrated skin.

    A few months ago I started to use coconut oil (unrefined, pure, can get in Hollands & Barrett, actually have it on sale for 8 odd yoyos at the mo) and I've found it to be fantastic. My skin is very pale and quite sensitive, verging on the drier side and, prone to the odd few spots and visible pores (thank you Celtic roots ;) );

    I now use this oil

(which comes solid, so you just rub a teaspoon amount between your hands until it melts into an oil) and use this as a mosturiser at night. The brilliant thing with this tho' is that it is also FANTASTIC as a cleanser, removes all make-up, and also as a hair mask (My hair is very blonde and very dry, although I have to admit I find the oil is better on my skin than as a hair mask for me). Anyway at that price, it might be worth a shot! Also, dab lightly on eyelashes before bedtime and they will grow super long :D

Using an oil on your face over the winter will really help. I used the Liz Earle one last year and my skin was in great condition, this year I'm using the trilogy one and again I've had no problems with dehydration. Using oil on your skin is also a great way to close pores and combat the greasy t-zone area if you have one as well as hydrating your skin.

I use the trilogy rosehip oil morning and evening. In the morning I apply it underneath my moisturiser.

Its around €20 and the bottle lasts ages but if thats too expensive any base oil should work or bio oil.

I actually got a gift of a few Trilogy products from my brother for Christmas; have only used the serum so far and while I found it to be OK the 3 times I've used it, it doesn't feel as agood as the Aldi serum I've been using the last few months...great stuff :D

I've heard great things about Trilogy though so will use this until runs out and compare then.
