    hey guys,
Trying to get DLNA working with my new tv, Toshiba 40SL733, I'm very new to DLNA and don't know how to set it up,
I have the tv connected via Lan cable to my router and my laptop connected via wireless to the router.
Should I be seeing the TV on my network, do I need a program to "push" the video to the tv? all very confusing,
Any help you guys could give me would be super,

I've tried the web but the DLNA and the Toshiba site are pants.

Thanks in advance for any info you can give me, all I need is a point in the right direction and I'll have this going, then try get it going in Linux hahaha.

the DLNA in your tv is a client, so you need a media server, like Windows 7 have DLNA, so if you have media files, you will be able to stream it from the TV and not the other way round :)

    Are you using Windows 7?

If so, under windows explorer, open you network. Do you see your TV?

If so, check your version of Media Player, if not version 12, goto microsoft's website, d/l and install version 12.

    Now open media player
Click Stream (near top left), More Streaming Options, You should see your TV here, allow it full stream access.

You can now right click on any media file on your laptop and you should see a "Play To" menu option. This allows you to send "Push" the media file to your TV. Bear in mind some movie codecs wont work. Most image formats are supported as is wma and mp3 audio.

You can also go to your TV and using it's menu system, there should be an option to allow you to browse available PC's that have media streaming enabled.

What wireless router do you have? I know some people had issues with a UPC Cisco EPC2435 modem, but it works fine for me. TV connected using ethernet, and PC connected wirelessly.
