Yes, I'm having my baby boy (my first) by elective c-section on the 7th. All going well I'll be home for my own birthday on the 12th. I been browsing a lot but thankfully I've flown through this pregnancy and haven't had any cause to visit the moan thread. I'm 5 10" and broad build and for the first time inmy life I've been thankful for it, plenty of room for the bump. We've got a name but are keeping it to ourselves until he arrives. We're in the US and here people name their babies at about 6 months which I find odd, I just think personifying soemthing that is not here yet is a bit strange.

    How are you keeping?

I'm due on 28th jan. It's my first so I'm really hoping the little babs will oblige it's mam and come on time. I'm finished in work next week because I've lots of time to take.

I've been extremely lucky (touch wood etc) thst my pregnancy has been very uncomplicated. I only missed 1 day from work and that was because u had two hospital apps on the same day and didn't want the stress of coming in late and leaving early.

The babs is a right little kicker and has been very active since 19weeks.

Just looking forward to thebend of these damned early mornings. Only 7 more to go! Working has been fine but the 6am alarm wakeups are getting tougher.

I'm due on the 10th, but went for my 36 week check up today and the baby is measuring around 8lb already which has me freaked out no end!!! Its going to be a whopper! Like ye I've had an extremely easy pregnancy - but I guess thats all about to change!! I was hoping to deliver naturally, but now I'm not sure if thats even an option!? Really don't want to have a section... but the thought of squeezing out a 10 pounder isn't exactly sitting well with me either!

Their weight estimates are rarely correct:)my consultant won't give an estimate for this reason and his attitude is that they only worry if it is too small.

    I have a Jan 1st 2009 baby,she was due the 9th :)
Due on the 25th Jan this time and hoping to go earlier,my birthday is the 26th.

I agree, ultrasound is a very subjective modality. My doctor does his own for the first few weeks but sends you out to a perinatal specialist for the 20 wk anomaly scan as that doctor is doing them all day every day is going to be more experienced. I'm going back to that doctor on Thursday to get a scan to see what size this baba is (as I'm having a section at 38+5 they want to make sure he is big enough to come out then). I'll let you know what he says.

I know there is a level of estimation involved, but after the consultant took some measurements, he sent me to the fetal assessment dept for a second scan to make sure. They measured the baby as bigger!! I don't know, I'll just have to go with the flow I guess :D Trying not to worry anyway as there is nothing I can do.

I had my guy 5 weeks early (july 2005) and he was 7lb 6 oz. My first was 9lb 1 and 1 week early the 3rd was 8lb 15 and 1 week early.

I asked if i could have a c-section with the 2nd because he was expected to be over 10lb they said no if i can push out a 9 pounder i can push out a 10 pounder, nice. But my waters early for some strange reason and i had a 7lb 6oz baby who caused more damage then the 9lb 1oz first born.

My dad was 10lb 5 and a natural birth and his aunt was 15 lb and a natural birth and that was 90 odd years ago.

Also with my first born i was told i was having an average size baby and my friend due 2 days after me was told she was having a whopper, i had my lady 1 week early and she was 9lb 1oz and 54 cm long, my friends came 8 days overdue and was 8lb 6oz and 60cm long, they used the forceps with her and i had my lady natural.

A lady i know had her first just after i had my 3rd the baby was 11lb 5oz and she had a section.

7lb 6 is huge for 5 weeks early, imagine the full term size of him!!
My friend had an 11lb 4 baby this year naturally,he is nearly as big as my baby who is a year older.

Karmella - relax:) at this stage what ever happens happens and once baby is healthy it is all we can hope for:)

    My tens machine arrived:)
I should prob pack my hospital bag...

Oh yeah, hospital bag, I probably should do that too.

Had my scan today, baba measuring 35+2 (I'm 35+4) so bang on. He's 5lb 14oz so should be 7-8lb on arrival.

That reminds me, my 32 week scan the buba was 5lb something, the higher side of 5lb not the lower side.

best of luck, hope the next 5 weeks fly by......

Mrs.P is due on Jan 5th. All going well and the GP's nurse reckons Mini.P is over 7 lbs already. She hasn't put on any weight anywhere else other than the bulge, and the bulge is ballooning lately. Bags ready, but rest of the house is a mess, and haven't tried the car seat yet! So much more to do before the 'nappie filler' comes home!

Even with the detailled scans they can still be out by +/=1lb.

I've said on other threads before, a woman rarely grows a baby that she can't deliver herself. And whether its a 6lb baby or a 9lb baby, it'll still hurt as much!

Just remember that your body grew your baby for you to deliver. If nature wanted to make things difficult we'd be growing babies with square heads. Don't worry about the size of your baby and how he/she is going to get here until it becomes an issue. Your lady parts were designed for this purpose!

Hi.....yes we're due our first on the 12th and our little one is also a right little kicker never stops! hope he/she is more restful after birth. I was wondering if anyone can suggest the best place for us to buy a travel system. I would like one that we can change the car seat in when bubs gets bigger. There's alot of choice so would just like some feedback on the best ones and indeed the ones to avoid......thanks in advance Dave

Baby Liam is now 12 hrs old.

6lbs 12oz, he is a dote - feeding well and sleeping lots.

I feel great, eating again and no pain from the stitches - I'm sure they gave good drugs though.

Congrats to Positron, Mrs P and Karmella on your Jan babies - and angelfire on your Dec one.

Best of luck everyone still to come this month.

I was due 6th... but still nothing... haven't even had any braxton hicks! I'm booked for induction on monday.

    that would drive me mad!!!
Hopefully you go naturally before then:)

I am due the 25th and no sign of baba yet,I am impatient at this stage!!

Poor you, 3roken, I'm hoping and praying I don't go too overdue but its my first so its likely that I will.

I'm 38 weeks on Friday, its a case of :D  in equal parts. I never knew I was getting braxton hicks until a midwife explained what exactly they were and now I realise I've been having them intermittently for probably 4-6 weeks. In the last week they've become a lot more frequent, probably one an hour, and over the past couple of days its been every 30 mins. Last night I woke up a few times because they were so uncomfortable.

My husband said I was talking in my sleep too which I rarely ever do but I think thats because the uncomfortable sensation of the bh was incorporated into my dreams. They've eased off a bit today so back to one every hour or so. While they are uncomfortable they don't hurt. I've also started getting these infrequent darting sensations (not pains really) in my lower abdomen. I'm literally pimping for signs at this stage and being hyper aware of every little niggle.

Well i had a show today, so i'm hopeful that i'll go naturally before monday! I'd really rather not have to be induced!
