Hiya, i am a medical card holder at the moment, and i am assinged to a dentist in my area, i cant afford to just go to a new dentist of my choice as i am not working at the moment, i went to my dentist recently because i was having pain with a couple of teeth, so i got a free check up and told him of the problems im having with two teeth, in my opinion i think i need a couple of fillings, which im aware i have to pay for now as the medical card does not cover much dental costs now, its like a nerve pain and also one of the teeth seems like it has a slight crack in it, when i chew down on something its very sore, he looked over my teeth and just said, thats fine, make an appointment with the hygenist, he told me nothing of whats wrong with the two teeth in question, and it seemed to me he dismissed me from a decent check up, i am still in pain four weeks later, to be honest i was never really happy with him as my dentist, sure i could go make another appointment, but this time i will be charged as i have had my 1 free check up and it could result in him sending me on my merry way and doing nothing again.

How can i go about changing my dentist on the medical card, is it possible?

Because i cant put up with this pain anymore and i want a new dentist and second opinion.

Thanks to anyone who can advise me, and sorry for the long post.

You can go to which ever dentist you like. Its not like with a GP where you are tied with your medical card. You can make an appointment with any dentist that takes medical cards, no forms to fill in.

    Hope that helps :)
