EGR Valve?

Hi All I'm having a little trouble with a 2001 Ibiza . Its the 1 litre version. Last week the car lost power and the engine light came on. I run a diagnostic and it comes up as the EGR valve. Would this cause the car to loose power ? Would I have to replace the valve or is there a cheaper option to fixing the problem ?…

Hi All

I'm having a little trouble with a 2001 Ibiza . Its the 1 litre version.

Last week the car lost power and the engine light came on. I run a diagnostic and it comes up as the EGR valve.

Would this cause the car to loose power ?

Would I have to replace the valve or is there a cheaper option to fixing the problem ?

You could clean it. AFAIK there is a aerosol you can get in Halfords called 10k boost. That is supposed to work op.

You could try cleaning the valve, thats worked for a few people

with this problem. Hope it does the trick.

I don't know about the EGR in an Ibiza, but I had mine blanked off completely (LR Disco) which made it run a bit better maybe not as environmentally friendly). It still passed NCT without any problems
