    Hi,

Hoping someone can advise me on this, I purchased a 2002 passat from northern ireland 2 weeks ago, before buying I did checks with the vrt calculator online and got back 600euro,..now since buying the car the cheapest quote is coming back at 1500,. does anyone know if something has changed or is there anything I can do to contest this charge?

Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Use the initial quote, if you printed it out?

there is many many diffirences in 02 passat VRT
it really matter what exact model it is

Exactly could be the 90bhp base model or the 2.5 V6 4motion Highline with all the trimmings.

That quote does seem quiet high, got quotes circa €600 for a 02 TDI Sport about a month ago.

There was no 90bhp in the b5.5.

What is the spec of your Passat ?

I plugged in the details of a hypothetical 02 Passat TDi 110bhp base model 4dr saloon, 110k miles, first reg May 02, and got quote of 679 euro.

VRT is a rip off. Abolish it. Now. Only country in Europe that has this form of tax. Abolish it. Now.
