Is it ok to print out Boarding passes in coloured ink. Printer not working properly and dont have time to check what's wrong. Just wondering will Ryanair accept colouted ink or does it have to be printed in black.

I wouldn't imagine there being an issue - I would have actually said that if anything they would prefer colour - black could look photocopied, although I'm not sure what the big deal with that would be.

Could you actually answer me this - how long does it normally take ryanair to issue an email confirmation? I just booked flights but have received nothing yet (booked em 10 mins ago only !!)

Normally takes from about five to ten mins.

I always print my boarding passes in color. No problems there. What they are very picky about is the size. Some people have their printer set to print two pages per A4 sheet of paper, reducing the boarding pass to half size. This will not be accepted. If they catch it early, you will pay the boarding pass reissue fee. If they notice too late, you will not get to fly at all. So make absolutely sure you are printing in A4. Color or black and white does not matter.

I have seen people with boarding passes printed in "eco mode" (reduced amount of ink) on ecological paper - so you essentially get a gray printout on a gray piece of paper that is very hard to read. This seemed to still be accepted. As long as the bar code can be scanned, all should be good. And if the code for some reason cannot be scanned, security can still enter your boarding pass number manually.

I always print mine in B&W to be honest. The reason is that the colour printer at work has a very dark shade of black and I saw people turned down at Dublin airport because the black of the barcode was...well...too black! So keep an eye on the blackness of your black also... You gotta love Ryanair! :D

@penauthead: it usually takes minutes, but sometimes it takes longer. Go to the Ryanair website and go to "Manage my booking>View my booking" and if it says that it's confirmed, then it is.

Red ink can be a problem as scanners use a red light to read, only other issue are smudged barcodes from poor quality printers

I always print a test page first so the printer nozzles are nice and clean. I've queued up before and been turned away from security because they can't read the barcode. Not too bad on BMI because they reprint your pass and stamp it priority so you can skip the queue, but I'd hate it to happen when flying ryanair

30 minutes in my case and don't be surprised if you ever fly WizzAir if they don't arrive for as much as 12hours
