    Hi All,

Just a quick question regarding the cost of an accountant.

I am looking for an accountant to do 2 months worth of books for me including VAT returns. Any idea what i might be charged?

    Cheers
    Moggie

You'll need to give a bit more detail, how many transactions are there, what work have you done already (summarised sales etc.), is this a trade that just started finished in the two months and so on.

You'll probably need to talk to someone so that they can get a feel for the amount of work involved.

Business just started 2 months ago. I have it all organised on an excel spreadsheet, sales, purchases, bank, all invoices, receipts etc organised.

if you have it all on excel sheets then you could do it yourself?

I was going to but if i got value, to be on the safe side, i was going to use an accountant.

I was just looking for a ball park figure to see was it worth my while using an accountant.

Is it just the Revenue returns you want doing? You seem to have it pretty well organised and on top of it so I'd look into doing it yourself - those forms are pretty easy to take care of.

It looks like you are well organised, however, I would suggest you get a bookkeeper to help you out with your first return, management accounts, just to see if there is anything you are missing.

Let them know it's a once off and you'd like to be involved in the process to be able to do it yourself going forward. I'd say you'd get this for a couple/few hundred euro depending on complexity.

    Good luck
