Timberland boots - caring for them?

Just bought my first pair of Timberland (leather) boots  Just wondering how I should care for them going forward? I've always bought hitech boots but was sick of them generally falling apart after a time. I bought a waxed leather protector too, but unsure do I apply this immediately or only after a time to spruce them up? Thank you :)

Put the protector/polish/nubuck cream/dubbin/wax or whatever you have on now! There is so much salt on the roads that you'll need any protection you can get.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

Thanks for the reply! Well planning to keep wearing the normal hi-tech ones for now as the timberland ones are quite dressy and don't want them ruined but your right might as well lash it on now! Do they not come with some of it already applied though?
