hi not to sure where to put this thread so if some nice moderator could direct me i would be obliged.

Basically im moving to limerick next year i have a wife and a baby girl who will be three when we move round next July. we are also expecting a baby which is due in July also next year. all of us are moving then. The thing is she wants an apartment which is fine by me if we get one i just want to make sure the place is safe. I was thinking about a few places and were not rich so having to save up now. i need a place with rent allowance also. I was thinking of a few places and wandered if any one had any thoughts.

Broadleaf, Broad Street, Limerick City, Limerick City Centre : http://www.daft.ie/searchsale.daft?id=266231

The Steeples, Mulgrave Street, Limerick City, Limerick City Centre: http://www.daft.ie/searchsale.daft?id=245935

Richmond Court, Limerick City, Limerick City Centre: http://www.daft.ie/searchsale.daft?id=278850

The guards at roxboro Garda station told me there are no red flags with the steeples and it looks nice frm the pics but from the way my other goes on you'd think it was murder city in there.

please genuine answers here please thanks and the links aren't the ones i have chosen just an idea so you know where im talking about.

You do realise those are all for sale, and that doesn't come compatible with rent allowance?

Mulgrave St. is okay, but if you're going to be attending LIT you should be looking the other side of the city.

Are you attending LIT? If so, and you want to live near there, it won't be that easy to find a flat. There's a house very near the campus -

    http://www.daft.ie/searchrental.daft?id=985630

I know it says rent allowance not accepted but if you click on the 'similar properties' in the google map, you'll see there's not much for rent there. Of course that will be different come the start of the Uni year.

If you're looking for a safe flat close to the city centre, then a place in Grove Island would be good - there are two sections, Fisherman's Quay and Lock Mills, and they're both safe enough - I've lived in both places without any problems.

    http://www.daft.ie/searchrental.daft?id=986609

    http://www.daft.ie/searchrental.daft?id=622653

(Rent allowance not mentioned in the first one - it says 'not accepted' for the second though).

There are some flats on the Dock Road, particularly places like this in Mount Kennett

    http://www.daft.ie/searchrental.daft?id=976739

that might look nice, but I'd steer well clear of them.

A friend of mine is in River Point, right by the roundabout by Juries. He says it quiet, safe and well mainained (plus it's literally right beside the Garda station). Only 15 mins walk to LIT and less than 5 to the city centre.

Op don't go for any of the flats you've pointed out, especially if you have a child. Noisy parties and other activities are a regular occurrence in those apartments.

What is your budget for the flat? Look in the lettings section of daft with your upper limit specified.

Don't forget to ask for advice on places here, i've been in a lot of apartment buildings with work and i wouldn't put a dog in some of them.

There's a creche downstairs in Riverpoint too.

And a shop at the base of it, if the price is right, id say thats a good place.

Don't like any of your choices.

Richmond court + immediate area i would stay away from.

    Rent allowance for 2 adults 1 kid is €605, 2 kids €650.

I would not live in an apartment with 2 small kids.
Try ennis road, sc road, dooradoyle, raheen, clancy strand, castletroy, caherdavin, to name but a few.

Plenty of places available within your budget, few houses too.

And if you are not working, rents are way cheaper in limerick county if you have a car.

    Read his post

OP if you were willing to look at houses as well you would have a pretty decent selection out around the Raheen area.

Tony, as others have said, the 3 places in your original post should be way down your list.
Limerick is not the biggest city in the world, so any apt/house you are interested in should get a fairly quick response here.
Try the suburbs first for a house or apt in a smaller block. Raheen/Dooradoyle is the best serviced (shopping centre, cinema, hospital, primary schools, good bus service......good bus timetable anyway).

richmond court avoid like the plague unless your up for partying all night, also spotted burnt tin foil on the way out one night which points to the probability of junkies living there
