Hey guys, new to the forum, suprised i havent joined before.

But anyway on to my point, thinking about getting a HTC Wildfire, iv seen previous threads but i wanted to start one up myself.

This is my first touch screen phone, basically i didnt know if i could text well on a touch screen and thought they were a bit big. Right now i got a nokia 6700 slide.

Whats your experience and opinion on the wildfire? and how is it on meteor? internet connection etc? also is this the best phone at that sort of price range?

    Thanks guys

theyre fine in my opinion.. i got the desire and its grand for texting.. its the predictive text which makes it.. i hit a lot of wrong keys i find, but its not much hassle as the predictive recognises where i hit wrong keys etc... (my first touch screen also btw)
if you are a big texter maybe going for a slideout could be best... ask instore can you use one.
the touchscreen is basically the same as a querty keyboard anyway so its not much difference i guess. i hafnt used a slideout so cant really compare, but i dont have much hassle so im guessing if you can text pretty well anyway you should be sorted

I was in the same boat as you, couldnt use the other halfs touch screen at all a nokia of some sort, but got a gift of a wildfire so i had try it, took a few days but know i cant believe i had so much problems, as kenyard says the predictive text is good to help you out.
i have it on meteor and i like it i must say, their text and internet deal is brill, and connection speeds are pretty good too. wifi speeds are up there with some higher spec phones and the battery is good. only down side is the smaller screen size which means some apps arent available, but the majority are.

Ya i have no doubt really that i will get used to the text etc!!

Is the low resolution screen that bad? or is it still brght and if not brighter that normal phones of the same price?

With meteor, do you have to have a google account to use the internet and download app?

    Cheers guys all opinions welcome

You meed a google account to buy apps but u can set one up soley for that, tbh i dont find the resolution that bad, fair enough internet sites arent the greatest but what you expect wth a small screen phone anyway!

I hate all the talk about the wildfire resolution as if its stone age and no one can see anything on it. I have a wildfire and its brilliant. I think sometimes on boards everything is picked at so much that unless its the best on the market everything else is sh1te.

OP go and buy it they are a great phone and its great on Meteor no hassle with connection for me in Dublin

Thinking about picking up one of these for the girlfriend from Meteor later but need to know if they're SIM locked or not and if they come with Meteor bloatware. Anyone have one on another network?

I went from spica to wildfire and will never look back. the HTC interface on android is far better than samsungs and although its actually a slower processor it feels a bit quicker, again due to the difference in interface

They had brown or white, no blacks. However, the brown is out of stock on prepay and unlikely to be back in before the end of the year.

Just picked one for herself in white today from meteor, not a bad little phone at all.
Just setting it up now, a bit to get used to id say, but wouldnt take too long.
Loved the way it synced the facebook phone numbers to it.

Think il get the desire for myself the weekend, i dont fancy the HD as it seems
    too wide in the hand.

Anyone got a few trusted and cheap sites to unlock this phone while im posting?
And how to download skype, doesnt seem to be working for me.

Locked im afraid, You need a code to unlock as far as i can gather.
Just google how to unlock them and plenty sites will come up to do it for you.
But you have to pay for it, cheapest i found is 16 or 17 euro on one site.
But dont know which one to trust.

If you find a free way let me know :D

Well just found out, after getting herself the wildfire on meteor,
It can not be unlocked with the codes the same as the other networks.

So if you want one dont get it from meteor, unless your with them or willing
to spend 130 on credit before they will unlock it.

So now im stuck with it cos shes in a contract with emobile.
And there goes my htc desire, so il stick with the wildfire for myself.

i remember years ago there was a post or article somewhere.

The jist of it was that you own the phone seing as you paid for it and its yours so Meteor cant withhold the code.

I was with Vodafone years ago and rang them up for the codes and they said no and after stating this i got the phone unlocked. Has this now changed?Turbo where are you living?

    Tralee.

35 euro is a bit dear for a code when you can get them for 15 for other networks.
Even at that i think its a rip off that you have to pay to unlock a phone you buy
    from a company.
