For anyone who hasn't got it Left 4 Dead 2 is available on Steam for €4.99, amongst many games listed under €10

works out at €3.75 each.

Right, i have 2 mates who want this so the easiest way i see is i will do the bundle purchase, and can be payed into my paypal or bank or whatever, and i can gift l4d2 to whoever wants it then? I think thats the easiest way?

It looks like i need to order 6 copies so....if we get 2 more people for a copy each i can order 2 4 packs....

EDIT- looks like if i purchase the 4 pack i have to keep one of them

@ thenigfhtrider, if i paypal you the money for the 2 copies i need does that cover you enough to do the purchase?

Left 4 Dead 2 - a time sink, but a completely enjoyable one at that. Only issue is at this time of year starting to image Zombie Santas.

Steam is all download.
You can backup your game files to a disc or hard drive or any kind of storage though for re-installation later if you worry about your internet usage.

just think of steam like your games menu on the pc, it just keeps all your games linked to your account so you can play them (if they're downloaded) where ever you go

What happens is, you install the Steam Client and log in. This gives you access to the Steam store and your own local game library. To launch Steam games, you need to first launch Steam.

You then click "Install" for a game you own - this allocates the required space on your hard drive for the installation (in the Steam folder on your hard drive), then starts downloading the files.

It's not an ISO as such but depending on the game it may appear as a single monolithic file or series of files - but it's nothing you can access by, say, double clicking it's Exe. At least, not in the case of anything I've bought off it.

Once installed you can play by launching from Steam. If you're online it'll check for updates (you can turn that option off though) and then launch.

The auto updates can be a pain - I remember that christmas morning when I got the Half Life 2 collectors edition, installed it, launched it and then waited 2 days (remember Dial-up, kids?) for the updates to come down before I could play...

You can buy games retail (ie on DVD in a shop) and register them on Steam so they're linked to your account and update through your account if you prefer. It's often cheaper, but not when the Steam sales are on

By the way, if anyone wants a free copy of Half Life 2 via Steam (or wants to swap it for something) let me know, I have a spare from the Orange Box.
