Argos for laptops

    Hi,

I just wanted to ask if Argos is a good place to purchase a laptop.

I have been considering this one:

    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/5083637.htm

I am just a bit concerned that they (Argos) would be difficult to deal with/unresponsive if anything went wrong with the machine.

    Thanks in advance.

Argos are not computer experts. They are box shifters. Their customer service is quite good in my experience, but they won't know the first thing about laptops - issues will be passed on to the manufacturer I expect. This could introduce delays.

They also don't sell the latest stock, and are not known for value. BTW that laptop is out of stock in the few stores I checked.

I bought mine in Argos, if you know exactly what you want and the price is good I can't see a problem.

They'd be no different to pcworld and the likes from experience.

I would have no problem buying from argos, and their prices are usually quite good too.

I have never seen anything in Argos that was competitively priced. That's not part of their business model. Occasionally they have special offers (usually end of lines, or stock that ain't shifting) that can be good value.

I have been surprised a couple of times with their low prices, but you really need to do your homework, and yes I agree; the best deals are on end of line stock.
