Decorating Beardie tank

I've got a stack on the way for my beardies, which means four seperate tanks to decorate. What I'm hoping to do is actually build a series of ledges and mounds in the tank to try and recreate a desert/scrubland environment. Does anyone have any idea what would be the best material to use?

Styrofoam, theres this guy on youtube who builds all kinds of cool things for his lizards using just styrofoam, some grout, glue and cheap acrylic paint.
