    Just found out Ireland will follow UK (not again - I hear you say) and close the cheque guarantee scheme at the end of 2011. The UK one closes in June 2011.

    No surprise I suppose given that many shops are now refusing to take cheques.

    About time. Sure the UK are doing away with chq's completly by 2017.
