New Tyres - Limerick opening hours

    Hi Guys,

I'd say I've had a fairly lucky escape.

Went to drive off this afternoon, but soon realised I'd a puncture, which is bad enough. But I've also found a seriously large bump on the side wall of the same tyre. Poking it with my finger it seems quite thin at this point. I do quite a bit of motorway driving, so travel at a fair speed and definitely not pretty if I got a blow out. Okay, that's the back story...

I need to get to Dublin as soon as possible tomorrow, so is 9 o'clock likely to be the earliest opening hours for a garage to replace a tyre? Also, tyres will be 19" 235 45, which may not be the easiest to source.

If I pump up the tyre it'll last me about 15 mins before going flat, so it'll get me around Limerick city.

    Any info advice appreciated.

    Cheers

Honestly the likes of Advance pitstop do a call out service on Sundays but you will pay dearly for it.

    Text Parkway tyres

    (087)4128830 (public number)

Tell him your story and that you are stuck and what time can he be there in the morning?

    Thanks Berty!

I've just told work I wont be in until lunch time, so as long as I can find a place open around 9 I should be okay.

Will probably call into victory tyres first - as I know them best.

    Thanks

Don't you have a spare? Or is it a donut wheel?

Directional tyres I'm afraid. Wrong side :(

the spare tyre will still work in the other direction

Even with directional tyres there should not be an issue to mount them the wrong way, except they won't perform as well in rain.
I had two tyres on the wrong way for weeks when trying to figure out why a car was pulling to one side, never noticed a problem.

    Thanks Guys

Spent this morning ringing around Limerick tyre sellers to be asked are you sure that's the correct spec of tyre.

Unfortunatley 19" 235 45's are not the most common.

Any idea how a wrong facing directional tyre would handle on ice - would be travelling up to Dublin?

Frankly there will not be much ice on the Motorways or main roads so you will be fine.

After reading your thread I'm off to get 4 new tyres on my rental car. Wow the front ones are BAD!

smcgiff has probably left for dublin by now, but if not the safest option is to put the "wrong-direction" directional on the rear.
