Insured it with Quinn as a new policy. ( keeping my own NCB for the vRS )

    anyhow
    last year
    Myself
Son as named driver "18" Learner permit
    €1339 with windscreen cover

    Renewal in last friday

    Me ( 1 yr. NCB now )

Worth scouring the net for a better deal?

It's always worth shopping around imo. It's the only way to know if it's a good deal or not.

Am i missing something here? Isn't the new quote almost 20% (€250) cheaper?
Surely thats a good thing

Yes it's cheaper. But the question is whether or not it's the best deal out there.

    Suppose.
Of course the OP should shop around but ~20% discount on year 1 isn't to be ignored either.

I find it better to ring places than get a online quote. Did you try mccarthys in town.

Is that the quote they sent out in a renewal letter? I was due to renew my insurance with Quinn in September. The quote sent out was for €789.00, so i went online to see if i got the best deal, getting quotes from other insurance companies. I decided to get a quote from Quinn online and it came up as €610.00. Rang Quinn and asked them why there was €179.00 difference between the exact same quote? Cant remember what the reason for the difference was, but I got the €610.00 insurance. So check online to see if the quote is any better!!

I was told there is a McCarthys insurance in Rathmore but only quote over phone so will give them a ring tomorrow
Will also do an online quote for Quinn.
    Thanks for the replies

    @ Lenny
I did not ask anyone for a quote on here.... I dont know where my original post referred to that.

Definitely shop around.. mine went up by 20% for no reason, but I managed to get it down a little by shopping around.

Nice to get a 20% discount though, if you can get a better price elsewhere, go back to your original insurance company and see if they can match or better it..

Thats what I thought as well but it was my sons driving instructor told him when he passed his test to try them, I said I knew the owner as I went to school with Charles. He informed me it was a totally different company.
