    Hi,

Does anyone know where I could find a garage that services BMW cars in the Northwest or North of Ireland? Is it possible to still have a FSH if I don't take the car to a main dealer?

Note: I'm not looking for a BMW main dealer as the service costs are to high and I can't afford it at the moment.

    Any advice welcome,
    Thanks.

    what year is the car?
main dealer service history is not the "be all and end all" but as long as theres a traceable service history then the next buyer should be ok with that.

if the is still under warranty then the service has to be done using BMW recognised technicians using BMW recomended parts so as long as you buy the genuin parts and its done by an offcially qualified mechanic you should be ok.

    what needs to be done??

Its a 3 series E90 2005 saloon that is out of warranty.

Some of the work to be done is ...

    - Power steering return hose
    - Rear upper control arms
    - Replace fuel filter neck
    - 4 new run flat tyres

I have been given a quote of approx €2,000!

For starters, never have a garage replace tyres without shopping around first.

Untrue - refer to EU block exemption rules and new provisos for using non-branded service parts (e.g. Luk, Bosch, Ferodo, Girling, etc.)

    e.g. http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/+/http://www.berr.gov.uk/whatwedo/consumers/fact-sheets/page38070.html

can't find irish version but as it's EU that doesn't matter.

and hence why i said recommended in my OP ;)
they Bosch parts etc have to meet BMW requirements etc etc etc

OP - do not pay 2000e for that service!
theres a tyre place in Santry, North Dublin that provided 18" Run Flats for 155e each and they were the same brand that BMW supply themselves.

the other jobs, i wouldnt be too clued up on, but i would imagine you would get that done in Scully Auto Care or AC Cars for just over 50% of that price, maybe 1300 at a puch.

no they are not, you can get them in strabane for 600 for 4, Ivan steward in letterkenny does all my work, he only uses genuine BMW parts and i haven't had a bad experience with him yet, left the guts of 3 grand with him in 2 years
