Not my genre but Last.fm event listings are usually useful for live music at least.

Yeah, Timeout is pretty good for gig listings. I loathe Ticketmaster for being bastards of the highest order in many ways, but they're also good for bigger acts. Ticketweb are another good source to check, though their site is harder to browse for gigs if you're not checking a specific venue.
