Just bought a mk4 01 astra and the radio doesn't seem to be working, I am going to locate the fusebox and check if it is a fuse, however I read online that if the cigarette light is working then the radio is getting feed, and the lighter appears to be working.

Also in the manual I read that cutting off power supply can mean you have to reset the radio however I cannot get the radio to turn on whatsoever.

Anyone want to point me in the right direction?

Alot of Radio/cd player have a 10amp fuse in the back off them.

Might be worth checking to see if yours has one and if it has blowen.

does the top display work? ie time date etc. there is a seperate fuse for this and your radio may be looking for a code but you may not see it if the display not working.

car radio needs 2 lives the ignition feed and perm live feed..
if cigarette lighter is working thats one
and the other is on interior light circuit..
and may still have small fuse like a 5amp in back of radio
    hope this helps

A bad or broken earth may also be the cause. In this case you would still have a feed with all fuses ok, but still not working.

the cigarette lighter and the lights are working, the time is displayed aswell as the outside temperature but nothing else. There is 4 little holes i need to stick something in to get the radio out to check if there is a fuse there, would matches do to pop out the radio?
