ORIGIN OF THE CHRISTMAS TRAIN...

On my way home this evening ,I noticed a lit up train decoration in someones window, and it got me wondering,{does anyone know the ORIGIN to the Christmas Train?}I remember seeing them in films and shops around the bottom of the tree...Is it to do with coming home for Christmas during war time???:)
