Credit card and banking scams? How do they work????

    Just curious.

If someone gets hold of my credit card details/bank account details how the hell do they pull scams off?

I mean, I they were ordering something online with my credit card details, surely they need a delivery address? I they use their own, they'd be caught?
Likewise if they try to book a flight etc, they would (surely) have to book the flight in they're own name, therefor caught again.

Likewise with bank account details, so they have yor ac no and sort code? So what?

What can they actually achieve by having these details???

Hope I'm not being naive here, but really am clueless!

They make a "clone" of your card and go shopping on the high street.they book hotel rooms, tickets for events which they sell. They set up a false bank account in some totally random country like Nigeria and transfer funds to it.Some of these Russian mobsters control banks in thier own country and transfer your money into them.Try asking for it back!!

Hundreds of ways of emptying your account and running up bills in your name

I'm somewhat confident all of it is coordinated on the tor network (Better known as the "hidden internet"). People sell lists of details and credit cards e.t.c. over there or so i'm told.

OP - I don't mean to be suspicious but are you looking for ideas on how it's actually done? Have you recently come into the possession of a 'new' credit card by any chance?

Whatever you do don't let the 3rd prince of Nigeria tempt you into his business ventures.

That slimy fúcker has lied to me plenty of times now, he's still yet to open 1 business with the money I gave him.

    Lol, no not at all!

I recently posted on the bank form that I actually thought I'd been scammed myself.

Got me wondering as to how it's even possible in the first place!

Tor is like any other tool, it can be used for good or ill. It'd be hard to name a form of human interaction that hasn't been used to aid the criminal minded.

It usually has something to do with fake ID and another bank account. They then transfer cash over to the other fake ID account, then withdraw the cash.

Although , the chances of your face been seen on camera are high so this is generally done in another country.

This scamming really is not that technical at all . Equipment is available on e-bay that can turn the electric magnetic strip on a gift card into your bank account card.

So if they get either the cards details bank account etcc or you electronic strip make up they just need the pin ..

    I don't understand this , why are pin codes still 4 numbers ? Make them 8 or 9 ..
