English Marking Scheme

    I got back an essay from my English teacher yesterday and really am not happy at all. I looked up the marking scheme online and there appears to be 30 marks each for P L and C and ten for M. I'm guessing ten is mechanics. What are the others? Language? Clarity? I'm guessing she didn't use this or if she did has never mentioned it before. Help please! I'm determined my next one will be better!

    P is principle, how well you stick to the matter in hand, stick to the theme and keep looking at it to make sure you aren't straying from it!

    L is language ofc, rich idioms and nice sentence structures, accurate descriptions with well chosen words etc.

    C is clarity, how well you get your point across, are you mumbling? Is what your saying relevant? That type of thing.

    M for mechanics, can't remember but generally I'm a B student and get 8 or 9 per essay in it!

    P = Clarity of Purpose
    C = Coherence of Delivery
    L = Efficiency of Language Use
    M = Accuracy of Mechanics

    as per >>> http://www.examinations.ie/archive/examiners_reports/cer_2008/LC_English_2008.pdf

    It's not 30 marks but 30% of total marks go towards each of these: purpose, coherency, language and 10% of marks go towards mechanics.
