    Hi all,
I am going to be applying for the Back to work Enterprise allowance scheme and was just wondering if anyone has gone through it. My main question is do they trawl through your finances and for how long back when applying. Do they just ask for your current account details. If hypothetically a person had been lodging the odd small bit of cash for nixers would he be hanging himself. Hypothetically of course. I would like to go legit' but don't want to leave myself open.
    Any advice appreciated..

Hi HarryDog. I've gone through thew process myself. They dont go through your finances at all. The only thing I remember about a bank account was on the form registering for VAT and it asks what account you'd wish for VAT to be paid back into, and also the BTWEA is supposed to be paid to your bank account so the BTWEA form asks for the account you wish for it to be paid into.
They just look for a viable business plan and you complete their application form which can be gotten online. Other than that you have to complete the tax forms to register for income tax, and to register for VAT depending on whether you wish to reg for VAT or not.

Thanks for your reply. Do you mind if I ask do you have the 2 years of benefits or just until your dole runs out after 12 months. I think it may be more invasive for the two year thing.

It's not invasive at all, very simple process, they're not going to go rooting through your finances, they just want basic facts and details, that was my experience anyway.

I think you need to be on the dole for over 12 months before you can get the 2 year deal. I was only out of employment for a few months before I applied so I only get it for the rest of the first 12 months since I first became unemployed.

Thats right. My dilemma is do I jump now and get dole for 5 to 6 months or hang on and get dole for 2 years. There is a wife and kids to think of so I don't want to hang myself at the application process.

It's not invasive at all. In fact, they are delighted (providing you have a viable plan) that you want to start your own business and will be off the dole queue within 2 years.

I would definitely hang on and develop a business plan. You're reducing your risk then. I first went down to speak to them about it in JUne, but amd only now gonna go on this month. I might even leave it for a couple of months even. Also, they won't look at your bank records, they don't want to find reasons not to sign you up.
