Depends on the battery and charger. If its only a .5amp trickle charger your looking at about 40 hours for a normal bike battery.

Nearly band new battery, only used the sv about 4 times, the charger has a 6 and 12v option I have it in 12V. Does that make make it clearer?

Nope. The charger should have a Amperage rating and so should the battery. Car chargers can carry huge amperage ratings and charge bike batteries too fast possibly damaging them.

For example my 6000mAH battery takes a 1.2amp charge for 5-10 hours. Or a 12Amp charge in Thirty minutes. A 30 amp car charger would do it in about 10 minutes and blow the hole out of it.

Your SV should have the same battery as my bike so you would want about three quarters to a full day for a full charge. But anything over about 60% should charge up easy off the alternator on the bike if its used constantly.

Weather is supposed to go bad again next week though.

Cheers mate, thanks for your help, even if I only get it out for twenty mins. I have 3 work horses and I only got the SV as it was an offer I couldn't refuse. I only use it doing small runs I'm keeping in reserve for when one of the others die. Cheers aagain
