 Do we have an official launch date ? On the RTE 2 Temp channel, it now says this service will cease on 18 April 2011 ! Why at this early stage, state such a specific date ? unless it means something.

    Saorview is Launched.
"full public" launch is supposedly May 2011
Ka-Sat is completing commisioning in April 2011, assuming it launches on 19th/20th Dec 2010 OK.

I'd presume that message refers to the RTE 2 Temp channel. Which is not needed by anyone with proper kit.

They should encode the RTE2HD audio in AAC+ just to make sure that element is covered too.

Apologies if I didn't make myself clear. Saorview isn't officially launched. We are in "official trial" mode right now. Official launch for the general public is next spring. as you point out Watty. I just thought that April 18th 2011 might now be a significant date, seeing as it seems to be important for RTE NL, almost five months in advance, when there is no need to be so specific at this early stage.
