The bottom one is an official Nintendo controller, Nintendo themselves manufacture them and therefore they are the optimum equipment for use with the Nintendo Wii.

The above is made by a third party manufacturer and as a result is NOT covered by Nintendo or any warranty issues. In general, any 3rd part equipment sold by someone as big as argos will be grand in 90% of cases but because they aren't the "official" ones, you may have a bit of trouble or they may not perform as expected to a reasonable standard. In saying that, if you are buying that as a SECOND controller, I'd go for it if you expect your son to play mostly by himself. As a spare for occasional use, I'd say it'd do the job fine.

In a nutshell. One is made by nintendo, one isn't but they are both built to do the same thing, you are paying more for nintendo's guarantee of quality only :)

    Hope this helps

    Me again.

Do the cheaper ones fit in the Wii chargers and the steering wheel thingy etc etc?

yup. they'll have been built to do everything that the official ones can.

If you have any problems with that, let me know, it might not be a big job to sort it out (and i used to work for nintendo :) )

ah but the unofficial controllers always have a 'turbo button'
this makes them way better, even if the turbo button rarely does anything except get in the way and make the game totally unplayable if they are activated
