Building site beside the Library (McNamara)

I notice they're taking the crane down at the building site next to the Library which was being done by McNamara. I presume it's just going to stay as that, a site, for a long while now? Or at least until they can get in another builder.

Such a shame to have that space just lying there idle. I know it was only a path and a bit of green area in the past, but I liked it

Yes, hence the taking-back of a crane that they would have hired. McNamara will not be continuing building on that site (or any other)

The crane was hired. I guess the plat hire firm gotr permission from the receiver to collect their equipment. As soon as all the McNamare equipment is gone, another firm can come in.

The remaining business is to sort out how much McNamare is owed for the work they did before going bust.

Was just after confirmation, I had heard as a rumour before. They're a pretty big firm, they operate in England too, although it might be a different mob.

They were massive. Go back as far as the 1940's I believe. Had work going on internationally too (further than the UK!). Plenty of talk about it on other forums

I reckon they should just leave the construction site as is and put the building in elsewhere instead. Yon cricket pitch badly needs to be built upon.

They should lay down some sod so it will be like a grass pit, and put the yellow thing at the bottom of it. Then they can put a drain underneath the yellow thing which connects to the sewage system. Then when it rains it will be... like a pond...

I've noticed they've started taking down the McNamara signs as well.

I'm hoping that they left up the grafitti'd one that was shown in SIN... you know, the one where the "Mc" and "ra" were covered so it read: "Better built by Nama". Props to whatever clever student did that one! It made me giggle!

It was a proud day for NUIG students when that graffiti went up.
