Electric Vs Gas heat for one room

I'm trying to work out the cheapest way to heat a single room during the day. If I run the gas central heating and switch off every radiator bar the one in the room I work in, would it be cheaper than running an electric heater in that one room.

I know gas is generally cheaper, but does the price scale down to a single room in a house when only one radiator is switched on?

Using an electric heater converts 100% of the electrical energy into heat energy for the room, but heating with gas, you will need to heat all the water in the heating circuit before the heat comes in, so it could be better with electric. Hard to say though

for only 1 room, Id go for electric, the bloody mess of installing gas and cost for 1 room would not be worth it!

Your system may not be able to run for just one radiator. It needs to have something installed to allow the boiler run correctly when only a small number of rads are on.

The electricity is 100% efficient. A gas boiler will be about 80% assuming its serviced etc. The gas is 1/4 the price of the electricity.
You will still be paying to heat all the pipework in the house if you just turn off the rads though.
