Looking for best SKY Upgrade

    Hi all,

I have an old SKY box and subscribe to SKY for the last 5 years. All works ok but I seem to loose some of the other channels like CBBC, BBC4 and some of the Channel4 channels. No big deal but annoying at the same time.
Also I'd like to be able to record some of the programmes.
So I thought an upgrade was in place.
I talked to one of the SKY guys in the shopping center and he told me the best deal was to get a HD+ box and pay a one of price of €169 as an existing customer. It would be €79 for a new customer.

Was just wondering if there was a better way of getting a '+ Box'?

    Thanks

Note that you won't receive BBC 3, 4 on the EPG and consequently won't be able to record them. One of the several reasons I dropped SKY and went for a Freesat box which would.

Not be able to record channels not on the EPG is a real bummer. Would be the same for ITV channels I take it...
Must look into the Freesat so. But then I have no RTE... sigh

I just got it for €59 euro, only paying for set-up. On 24 of this month. One question they said the extra wire will be run external and not indoors, the wire is indoors. Will I be allowed to put the wire down from the attic.

@MANUTD. The installer will take care of it-don't mind what call centre staff say.

well tell the installer how you want it, dont let him do it half assed like they always do- always cut corners but pulling them on it usually rectifies the problem.

    use an aerial for RTE.
    HD soon sometimes

Freesat + Saorview, or even maybe after May Freesat and Soarsat.

IMO you only need sky if you want SkySport. We used to have Sky and spend the money on DVDs instead.

Currently on "Watty vision TV" via DVDs
    Foyles War
Various Michael Woods "In search of .. "
    DS9
    Bleak House
    Moonlighting
    Bagpus
    Ivor the Engine
    Shaun the Sheep
About 15 Christmas themed or containing Films (last night "in the Good Old Summertime" mostly set at Christmas) left. Five down.

agree with the freesat saorsat (pvr if you need it) recommendations - dont need to be paying money unnecessarily for a service when you can get lots and lots of good channels (theres always some drivel) for free
