So I started dating this guy a month or two back and we became official last week, since then the chase on his part has drifted slightly, I’m still chasing now mind you, making plans, texting or emailing now and again but sometimes its like getting blood out of a stone for a response from him. However I rang him on Wednesday and we talked and everything was great but then we didnt talk yesterday so I'm beginning to have doubts again! We can go a day or two with there being no contact, is that normal in a new relationship? Am I just being too needy? Ugh I think I am being too needy! I just like to communicate is all!

Communication is obviously a good thing to have in any relationship, but you don't have to speak every single day. He may be someone who's comfortable only getting in touch every few days, whereas you're the opposite and like daily contact. So a good compromise would be to meet in the middle somewhere.

Anyone I've been involved with there is normally contact every day (instigated by them) and that's fine if that pattern has been established.

Likewise if it's every couple of days and you're both comfortable with that then that's fine too.

Some people don't feel compelled (and find it downright annoying too) to be invaded with a constant stream of emails/texts/calls. I'd stop "chasing" him as you put it. He might be busy. He might not feel the need for tonnes and tonnes of contact. You do need to go easy on instigating contact to him if you've been contacting him a lot though, then you'll find yourself setting a pattern where you have to instigate contact and you don't want that either now do you?

Yesterday may have been a little test to see if you'd feel compelled to contact him again. And you didn't, so relax.

OP here, thanks for the replies. Yeah was briefly chatting over text there, I stupidly initiated but will leave it now to see how he reacts over the weekend. I am a bit needy, I know that now, just need to sort myself out ;)

It’s really great when a girl cares and you’re awesome for doing all of those things. As long as you don’t get upset with him and yell at him he will appreciate it. I found that men in general are horrible with communication so don’t be too hard on him. But he should make plans from time to time just to let you know he cares. It’s a balance act.
