your problem will be the airline they might not leave you board the plane unless you have a return ticket or a visa, so really what you need to do is either get a thai tourist visa from the thai consulate in dublin which are free at the moment i think or book a cheap air asia out of bangkok to a near by country within 30 days of you arriving to show them at the airport then you will have no problem.

IMO get the visa you have plenty of time.

Yes, technically you should have proof of an onward journey or a visa before you arrive, BUT in all the times I've been to Thailand I've not once been asked for proof of an onward journey. It's up to yourself, but it's highly unlikely to be an issue. However, for peace of mind, you may prefer to have something sorted before you go :)

As posted above it's hit or miss who you get at the airport or immigration.
Would advise getting a visa or booking an onward airasia cheap ticket to another south east Asian country.
Been back an forth there more than 20 times and only got hassled about 3 times for this info but you never know luck could run against you on that day.
    Up to you

So if I get a visa, then I won't need an onward ticket??!

Yeah its a strange system. We had a flight out of Asia 4 months after we arrived in Bangkok but once we had our three month tourist visa it didn't matter. Think its the same even if you don't have a flight out.

By not having any pre-arranged visa you can enter Thailand for 30 days based on a waiver agreement between Governments. The agreement states that you have an onward ticket for within the 30 days and a certain amount of money available on arrival.

In practice they never ask about your financial situation and the 'onward ticket' is rarely asked for. I would have entered Thailand many many times and was only ever asked to clarify the situation once, and it was in Sydney.

You should be fine, especially if your airline is not known for asking, but there's no harm in getting a visa either.

it's better you get the visa, i had a flight to bkk a few months ago out of london with jet air and they wanted either a return flight or a visa anybody who had a one way flight without these were not allowed to board.

Got a one way to Bangkok in September without any issues. Visa on arrival took a few minutes.
