I worked for 3 years in the public service, left to take up agency work at a higher grade (which I'm working at presently), with a view to return to the HSE.
With regard to the 10% pay cut for all new entrants to the Public service. Who exactly is classed as a new entrant? I have searched the web for an answer to this, but can't find any documentation. Any ideas, Anyone?

Given the objective of saving money, I would assume it to be anyone starting a new contract of work in the public service....

Are new T.D.s in the next Dail, whenever that will be, classed as new Public servants???

You would be classed as a new entrant, break of service.

Apparently yes...but this will cause issues as TDs salary has always been linked directly to PO salary in Civil Service...
PO salary staying the same (for now..) but new TD salary dropping....

    Gonna be trouble ahead ;)

Would that mean that any TD who retains his seat in the upcoming election ,is therefore not a new entrant, hence no 10% cut?

when you left did you not receive notification as to your years of service for pensionable purposes ? I would take it that once you had been there before you wouldn't be classed as a "new entrant" if you rejoined because of previous service???

Once you resigned your job with the HSE, you broke your service. Should you return to the HSE (best of luck with that one!), you will be classed as a new entrant for pay and pension purposes. Bear in mind that no incremental credit is being given to new entrants from Jan 2011.

Hi Guys, this may have been done before but i want to throw it out there for piece of mind.

Question is : if you have 15 years continued service in a public service body and are moving to another department in the civil service this year are you deemed to be a new entrant and are you subject to the 10% pay cuts . Ps : im only leaving a department to join another and i am still serving)

I dont consider myself as a new entrant but have been told that i am and just wondering whats going on ?

    any comments or suggestions ?

i am considering not taking it now because of this...
