I have a 05 S40 Volvo. I was driving on the road last night and all of a sudden the car lost power and i was free wheeling enough to pull in. When i tried to start her again it would not start. its not a battery problem cause everything was lighting up. I thought it might be electrical's r the starter was gone. The followin day it started perfectly and drove home but I was almost home and the same thing happened. So i turned it off again turned on and it started this time and made it home! Also it makes this exhaustion noise from the engine when i turn off the car!!. quiet funny noise but still a noise that isn't suppose to happen!

Can any1 give a suggestion It would be greatly apprieciated!

Any chance it could be overheating?
    Coolant level?
    Oil level?

Thanks for suggestions. Its a 2005 Diesel 1.6l. I don't think it was overheatin cause the gauge stayed the same. No other problem just that it just bascially stopped workin and the dash lit up again. it won't even jump start cause i tried it while I was movin and no luck!

Re-Seat the cable going into the fuse box under the passenger glovebox. It can come loose if you changed a fuse at some point.

If the cable falls out the whole car goes dead and some lights stay on but turning the key does nothing.

Fcuking thing went on my on the way to Belgium, broke down on the Antwerp ring and couldnt figure out what was wrong.

Its tiewrapped on there now !! :D
