SO! In honour of me FINALLY getting RB3, I've decided to set the next challenge :D

Since I'm, eh, only starting to learn the aul pro keys (ie I SUCK), I've decided to do a GUITAR challenge. Yes, another one but I like my guitar >_>

So, the song I've chosen is Chicago - 25 or 6 to 4.

That's Chicago - 25 or 6 to 4 on GUITAR!

Post your score in spoiler tags, closing date is this day next week, etc. etc. etc.

Good luck everyone!

'Tis a sown b*tch (yes like they would say in Deliverance) of a song, I might try again later, but this was as good as I got
193,401

My leaderboard score is tarnished with a hard score on this one

Pet hate in rhythm games is hard being too easy vs expert. my score was a 20 k leap on my pb expert score , I was actually very pleased to get it done without failing on expert, that 2nd and 3rd solo was dicey
145,873

I think I could add 10k to it though as I fluffed the early stum section the bits with the green orange that eventually goes to yellow orange caught me out twice.

So after doing my housemate's head in by constantly playing this song, the best I could manage was
170,580.
I played it on hard but on breakneck speed - I'm used to expert speed now but not quite at the skill level of playing 25 or 6 to 4 on expert :p

I'm quite happy with that score :)

I'd say make use of the no fail option for expert and see how you get on.

Got a Chicago cd earlier on the strength of this song , €5 well spent :)

Ah crap, I didn't think of trying that! Unfortunately I've to go home tomorrow (where there is no XBOX or RB ;_;) so I'll just leave my hard score :p

Yeah the solos after the first one get difficult, however much more manageable than say Rainbow in The Dark, that and Crazy Train are the two solos I can't get 85% in so far, though I've gotten 84% in Crazy Train, RiTD is a lost cause.

If that is for the achievement you know you can drop down to hard right?

Crazy Train is hard to practice because you can only slow down to 70% now. That coupled with no breakneck speed in practice and you get a solo I can't open properly.

I have the Chicago and Foreigner "best of" double CD - so full of awesome!!!:p

I'll have a bash at this tonight, as I actually like the song this time around AND can kind of use the guitar (would have gotten about 200 points on the last pro keys challenge!)

Not being able to use breakneck speed in practice mode is really annoying me. I couldn't practice the solos on 25 or 6 to 4 properly - had to just keep playing through the tune on normal mode.

Boooooo :(

Yeah but that'd feel kinda cheap. I'm sure I'll get it eventually.

Well, I'm finished being amazing, here you go :D

(PROtip for future reference, you can get 20 odd k points if you have star power and FC the last alt strumming section ;)
198,438 Expert

Ha ha ha just tried that , you mean the alt strum bit right at the end with the weird new lines under the green yellow cords? got exactly 20k on my expert score using over drive there :)

Edit: fixed that for you as well :p

Ungh... Not to happy with this score. The reason... I did better on Hard than I did on Expert. Since this is a score comp I'm still gonna post the higher score though. Anyway here it is:
200,491
. Hitting 100% on Hard would set a very challenging score I think. Expert is very tough in terms of maintaining a combo.

You know at the end of the 2nd solo (the really long one), I could never hit the pull-off section, always missed one note :(

Fantastic song by the way.

So, after a week, the leaderboard looks like this:

1. Burning Eclipse (200, 491 on Hard)
2. D4RK ONION (198, 438 on Expert)
3. Moke (193, 401 on Expert)
4. Konata (170, 580 on Hard)
5. calex71 (145, 873 on Expert)

Awesome song is awesome - good job guys :D

NEXT! :D

The orange blue bit? If it's the same part i'm thinking that f'd me up too every time.

I saw an FC run on this on youtube 330k add 50k to that if he'd managed overdrive better.

• Moderators Posts: 8,678 ✭✭✭D4RK ONION

Burning Eclipse, you make me teh angry!! :P

Blue orange trill is easy enough, you just hold down blue and at the bottom of the neck and tap it with orange at the top of the neck.

Nope... It's from 3:22 to 3:35 in this video:

I always missed at least one. Grrr.

:D

If there is a drum challenge at some point I could see your score being a multiple of mine.

I always missed at least one. Grrr.

Ah yes , I usually get caught on that as well. I find if i fluff up the 1st one it throws my timing for the rest.

Guy did a nice FC in that video, it was the same one I mentioned earlier , he could have added 50k to that had he made better use of overdrive.

lol

/desperation :p

Lol

Where did you actually make up the points, must have been a decent streak through the 2nd or 3rd solos?

• Moderators Posts: 8,678 ✭✭✭D4RK ONION

Almost an FC of the 3rd solo with only a note or two dropped at the start, made it out with my 4x streak to pick up points on the chords afterwards. Not to mention my general level of play is returning to levels of old which is a great feeling. I can do 85-95% on all the solos now!

On a slightly different note, Banjo Fella is REALLY good, I must PM him to take part in these!
