Frozen pipes...again!

I've just been forced to take a day off work in the attic with two portable Dimplex heaters and a hairdryer defrosting pipes as our attic tank wasn't filling.

I'd advise anyone to keep their attic door open in this weather and if possible keep a cold (not drinking) water tap trickling during the night.

Still wasting water, and is the reason why the councils in dublin have had to cut off supplies this week. make sure you're pipes are properly insulated and you shouldn't have a problem.

Leaving a tap running is a bad idea, and leaving the attic door open will just let an almerciful draught down into the house when there's no need.

in fairness we aren't geared for this and haven't the insulation in place to stop the bursts, 19mm and 25mm can only do so much, with 9mm you've no chance
