Quality of plastering

I’ve been pricing plasterers for my self build lately. There are two things that will effect my choice of plasterer.... quality of work and price. I’ve priced 5 plasterers so far and lo and behold they are all the same price. I’ve been told they base the price on floor area of the house so maybe that’s why. All come with a good recommendation from someone and I have also seen some of their work. I’m worried still however that when the work is completed it might not be up to scratch. Any advice on how I would go about keeping a check on this as the work is being carried out. I don’t want to pay someone and then have cracks appear or inside walls that are difficult to paint

Refferals. People you know that have used them.

Give a hand out when they start work, clean up, be helpful. Get friendly with Forman/ Boss. Keep communications open. Have mains water available, power for drills.

    Treat the trademen well.

Don't allow them to plaster when its cold - even if they say they're going to use frost-proofing materials. Wait until its a bit warmer.
